The conference on Natural Language Processing and Chinese Computing (NLPCC) is the annual meeting of the CCF TCCI (Technical Committee of Chinese Information, China Computer Federation). NLPCC is a leading international conference specialized in the fields of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Chinese Computing (CC). It serves as a main forum for researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, and government to share their ideas, research results and experiences, and to promote their research and technical innovations in the fields. Previous NLPCC conferences were successfully held in Beijing (2012), Chongqing (2013), Shenzhen (2014), and Nanchang (2015).

China Computer Federation and the Chinese Language Computer Society (CLCS) are pleased to announce that their joint meeting will take place in Kunming, China on December 2nd to 6th, 2016.

Today, NLP and CC technologies are among the most active research and development areas due to rapid advancement of the Internet as well as the worldwide proliferation of mobile devices and social media. The fields are facing many new challenges arising from intelligent applications and big data, such as business intelligence, social analytics, etc. NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016 will focus on Natural Language Understanding and Intelligent Applications including Fundamental Research in Language Computing, Multi-Lingual Access, NLP Data Science/Text Mining, Machine Learning for NLP, Knowledge Graph/IE/QA, NLP for social network, Information Retrieval, Conversational Bot/Summarization/Discourse as well as the Applications of Language Computing.

In addition to technical contributions, NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016 invites proposals for workshops, panels, technical evaluations, industry presentations and campus open day. For workshops, NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016 will provide administrative support for workshop room booking, registration and publication. All papers accepted by NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016 workshops will be published in a combined volume of the NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016 Proceedings, except for special publishing requirement by the workshop.

NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016 keynote speakers include Bin Yu (Member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, AAAS Fellow, IEEE Fellow, University of California, Berkeley, USA), Jacob Devlin (Microsoft Research, USA), Haizhou Li (IEEE Fellow, Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), A*STAR, Singapore), Huan Liu (Professor, Arizona State University, USA).
