The conference on Natural Language Processing and Chinese Computing (NLPCC) is the annual meeting of the CCF TCCI (Technical Committee of Chinese Information, China Computer Federation). NLPCC is a leading international conference specialized in the fields of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Chinese Computing (CC). It serves as a main forum for researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, and government to share their ideas, research results and experiences, and to promote their research and technical innovations in the fields. Previous NLPCC conferences were successfully held in Beijing (2012), Chongqing (2013), Shenzhen (2014), Nanchang (2015).
China Computer Federation and the Chinese Language Computer Society (CLCS) are pleased to announce that their joint meeting will take place in Kunming, China from December 2nd to 6th, 2016.
Today, NLP and CC technologies are among the most active research and development areas due to rapid advancement of the Internet as well as the worldwide proliferation of mobile devices and social media. The fields are facing many new challenges arisen from intelligent applications and big data, such as business intelligence, social analytics, etc. NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016 will focus on Natural Language Understanding and Intelligent Applications including Fundamental Research in Language Computing, Multi-Lingual Access, NLP Data Science/Text Mining, Machine Learning for NLP, Knowledge Graph/IE/QA, NLP for social network, Information Retrieval, Conversational Bot/Summarization/Discourse as well as the Applications of Language Computing.
NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016 will feature keynote speakers Bin Yu (Fellow of American Academy of Arts and Sciences; IEEE Fellow; Professor, University of California, Berkeley, USA), Jacob Devlin (Senior Research Scientist, MSR, USA), Haizhou Li (IEEE Fellow, Professor, National University of Singapore, Singapore), Huan Liu (Professor, Arizona State University, USA). NLPCC-ICCPOL Tutorials/ADL 74 will be delivered by Guodong Zhou (Professor, Soochow University), Zhengdong Lu (Senior Researcher, Noah’s Ark Lab, Huawei), Jacob Devlin (Principal NLP Scientist, Microsoft Research), Dekang Lin (ACL Fellow, co-founder and co-CEO of naturali.io.) and Huan Liu (Professor, Arizona State University). In addition, a Panel whose title is “Natural Language Processing and Artificial Intelligence:Challenges and Opportunities”, will be organized during ADL 74.
NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016 Conference has arranged keynotes, panels, ADL/tutorials, poster/demo, industry expo and Campus Open Day, as well as multi-track sessions of research paper reports.
NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016 tutorials, held as CCF ADL(Advanced Disciplines Lectures) No. 74, will feature domestic and international specialists to give five lectures/tutorials and one panel in three days on Natural Language Processing in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Foundation, Challenges and Opportunity.
Student Workshop, CCF Open Funding Project Workshop and Technical Evaluation Workshop will be held with NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016 conference.

NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016 will provide a limited number of Travel Grants and Industrial Demo Grants to the scholars and industrial participants:
1. All authors who have submitted to NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016 are eligible to apply for the Travel Grants to attend NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016. Priority will be given to applicants from west or middle regions of China.
2. In addition, scholars or students who have published (or have papers accepted), as first author, in the leading international conferences or journals within the last 12 months, are eligible to apply to Grants for Free Registration of NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016.
3. All the participants attending the Industrial Expo of NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016 are eligible to apply to the Expo Grants. The grants will provide free booth and exhibition registration to selected participant(s) who will demonstrate outstanding novel technology or product.
4. Eligible applicants are encouraged to submit their grant application forms (http://tcci.ccf.org.cn/conference/2016/pages/page08_dl.html) after completing their Early-bird registration for NLPCC-ICCPOL 2016.
